When it comes to wedding preparations, it’s not just the bride who needs to get ready. Grooms also play a significant role in ensuring a smooth and memorable wedding day. From grooming and styling to staying calm and organised, this blog post will provide a comprehensive guide for grooms to get ready for their big day in style.
Unlike the Bride, your Best Man might have been already chosen around 20 years ago. You need a team! Having your best friend on your side is great, but having a few wingmans on top of that is gold. You owe them a moment to share your embarrassing story during the reception toast, as well as the one why they love you the most. Your Best Man might be the contact for all the vendors you hire, in case they need anything.
You don’t want too many things to land on the back of your head when it comes to the wedding day. Make sure everyone’s on the same page with the timeline, and if there are any tasks you can outsource to your team- do it. Let someone prepare the little things for me to photograph like your watch, favourite perfume, cufflinks, or the bottle of whiskey you saved for a special occasion. After seeing quite a few weddings in Sydney I can tell one thing- make sure that someone actually knows how to tie a tie.
Your preparations can start way before the wedding day. Every now and then you can experiment with different hairstyles, until you find the one you really love. I’ve seen grooms taking it very seriously, introducing skincare routine, whitening teeth, changing eating habits, or even getting a gym membership. Unless it is a part of the experience for you and the boys, do not leave getting your haircut done to the wedding day, so you avoid any disappointment.
If you plan to give something special to your loved one, now’s the time. A common thing is to have it passed by a family member, so that the Bride can enjoy the gift while getting herself ready. It doesn’t have to be an actual gift, many times it is a love letter. It can help reduce stress, bring back that beautiful smile, and set the mood for the rest of the day. Maybe you also want to give a little something to your friends, for being with you on that special day, helping and caring, making sure everything goes according to plan.
At the end of the day, you will only enjoy the process if it is going to reflect who you really are. There are grooms, who want to spend the morning with the closest family, having meaningful conversations about what the future is about to bring, sharing joy, and excitement. There are also grooms who decide to spice it up a little bit, having a round of golf, trying that fancy whiskey that waited so long, or pumping some party hits during preps. A good idea may be to not get more than one drink before the ceremony, or engaging into some contact sports that could cause any injuries.
If you have any questions about grooms preparations, don’t hesitate to write me a message- I would love to help.
